In the south of Georgia is the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, a land of mountain forests, clear lakes, where turbulent rivers flow through narrow gorges. Archaeological excavations have revealed that man has lived in the region since ancient times. Following the history of Georgia, the Samtskhe-Javakheti region was one of the most important and culturally advanced provinces. The first written mention of it is found in an Urartian inscription from the time of Argisht I (785 BC), where Javakheti is called Zaabakh (the place where the Zaabakhs = Javakhs, one of the proto-Georgian tribes, live). The time of historical flourishing of Samtskhe-Javakheti coincides with the so-called Georgian Renaissance of the 11th-13th centuries. Samtskhe-Javakheti remains a region with many original cultural and historical monuments and amazingly picturesque and diverse landscapes. A sufficient level of comfort in small resort towns, combined with almost untouched nature, makes a trip to this region of Georgia especially attractive.

We offer a two-day tour of Samtskhe Javakheti where we will visit such places as: Lake Paravani, Paravan Caravanserai of the 13th century, Poka Nunnery where natural chocolate and other interesting products are prepared, Samos Tba (Evening Lake),  Bugdashen Lake-market of migratory birds, the Rabat fortress, the green monastery, Borjomi national park and most importantly the grandiose complex of Vardzia.
